Oh I know exactly where you are coming from.

My new year's resolution was to make it to confession once a month-- this would be a huge change for me as I think I made it three times last year! I started off well on the first Saturday of January and then set up a reminder for every first Saturday of the month. I knew I was going to be out of town this Sat, so I planned to go the last Sat of January instead. But my family needed me. Unfortunately Saturday afternoon is the best time for my husband and I to have us time and then the baby was really cranky and needed to be held and it just seemed wrong to walk out and leave him when he had just fallen asleep, fitfully, in my arms.

I'm not very good at gracefully accepting 'plan B', especially when it seems like plan A is something like confession, necessary for my own reception of graces, which I know I desperately need. I have such a hard time getting to confession anyway, I'm never sure whether I'm really making the best choice or if I'm wimping out from fear of the confessional.

Thanks for blessing us with this. I'm glad you still feel all the grace, even when today did not go as you planned - maybe it even went a tad better.

(and yes, I still throw MANY of my own temper tantrums. I already have today....so this post helps me REMEMBER and look up to heaven with my hands open and ready to receive what He is always ready to give if I let myself!!).

As always a wonderful post and reminder to look for the grace available to live out our vocation if we are willing to stay open to it.

Today I'm seeking to find the good in extra cuddle time with my little one as we await to see if 'Daddy' makes it home through the snow. Already two flights cancelled, how about Plan C.

The saying, "If you want to make God laugh, tell him your plans" has always held true in my life. Sometimes I get so frustrated when things don't go the way I planned, but I've learned that God knows best. (Although I still get cranky and throw my own little temper tantrums when my plans don't work out!) Thanks for sharing your story!
