On this Feast of the Little Flower, I found myself petulantly stamping my foot and demanding a "sign" in the next week.

I find myself alternating between saying "I don't trust You, God," and "I am so sorry I don't trust You, God." I really just need to say, "Help me let go, God." Which is why I demand signs: I'll let go, if You promise everything will be all right. Of course, I know it will be. I just don't know if it will be the way I think I want it to be.

I just love this post, Kate. I have so much trouble letting go of things. I can't believe the energy I've wasted on the smallest little things just because I couldn't find a way to move on.

In fact, I had hoped to write more here but the baby had other plans. I guess that's appropriate. ;)

I have read your blog for a while, and this is the first time I left a comment. This post really resonates with me. I am going through a dry spell, I don't feel like praying, and when I do pray, I find myself praying for things I want rather using those moments for blessing and honoring God. Although I am not a Catholic (I am an Orthodox Christian), I do find that at times like these, it is helpful for me to go to Confession and talk with my priest, in addition to saying to myself that is still important to pray even if if feels like I am merely going through the motions.

And even though it isn't fun to feel isolated from God, it is at least comforting to know that others deal with the same feelings rather than pretending they always feel God right next them.

I think sometimes it's easy to forget that God is ALWAYS there with us - even when we can't hear Him. He knew us before he created us - but it's so hard to remember that when we're struggling. Isn't it wonderful when He sends us those little reminders (although sometimes mine come in the form of the proverbial smack over the head when I'm being to obtuse to recognize the small signs!). Great post!! And nice to have you writing a long one....!
